In the One Piece Egghead Island arc, the Straw Hat Pirates are not yet introduced to the Five Elders as of yet, but the progression of events towards the arc will lead to the involvement of the Five Elders. Up to the most current chapters (March 2025), the Five Elders are featured prominently with significant involvement in the story of Egghead Island. In the present plot, the Five Elders are depicted as debating what was taking place at Egghead Island and, more specifically, around Dr. Vegapunk and his experiments. They are anxious about the nature of the forbidden knowledge Vegapunk has learned, especially regarding the Ancient Weapons and the Void Century, which has the potential to upset the authority of the World Government over history in the world.
The Forbidden Knowledge the Five Elders Hold
The Five Elders would most probably be central in holding the world’s best-kept secrets, such as the Ancient Weapons and the actual history. They know something regarding the Will of D., the Void Century, and the true nature of the Devil Fruits. The tie with the Gomu Gomu no Mi and the secret behind it connects with them being the keepers of forbidden knowledge. Egghead Island is where future scientific breakthroughs are being achieved, and Vegapunk has learned things the World Government does not want people to know. These include his extensive knowledge about Devil Fruits, Poneglyphs, and the Ancient Kingdom. These are things known by the Five Elders, and they seek to destroy anyone who poses a threat to their authority and the secrets that they guard.

The Attack on Egghead Island
Hence, they take part in deciding to strike at Egghead Island, sending out forces such as Admiral Kizaru and the Seraphim to manage the situation. The Five Elders have a huge ill feeling against Monkey D. Luffy, not just because he is the son of the Revolutionary Dragon but also because he and his crew have caused all this trouble. This involves intruding into Enies Lobby and defeating CP9 to rescue Nico Robin, punching Saint Charlos in the face at Sabaody Archipelago, triggering the first mass escape of Impel Down, intruding into the Summit War of Marineford to rescue Ace, and above all else, for defeating various Warlords of the Sea including Crocodile, Moria, and Doflamingo. The Five Elders now face Luffy.

The Objectives of the Five Elders
The aim here is to prevent Vegapunk from presenting his message to the entire world and, concurrently, prevent all of those who oppose the Government. Thus, the objectives of the Five Elders have not been altered. The urgency is to terminate the Vegapunk and prevent the transmission of the message altogether. The second objective that they would have would be to destroy the cursed lineage of the Buccaneers, i.e., Bartholomew Kuma. Naturally, their final objective would be to subdue Nika, the Sun God, here, once and for all. These three objectives are necessary for the Five Elders, and that is why they absolutely cannot leave any stone unturned here. Since the Five Elders are among the last of the great barriers in the world, a confrontation between them and the Straw Hats would probably be one of the last arcs of One Piece.

The Inevitable Conflict Between Luffy and the Five Elders
The fight would be a conflict between the principles of liberty and the search for a concealed truth against the current world order, tyranny, and domination. The authority of the Gorosei against the determination of the Straw Hats would be a climactic event, perhaps with Luffy and his crew battling not only to become Pirate King but to change the world and bring justice to the Void Century. The stakes are extremely high on both sides, with the Gorosei being party to making important decisions to withhold the information that is being revealed at Egghead Island. It’s highly likely that soon, we’ll see a more intense confrontation, possibly leading to an intense showdown between the forces of the World Government and Luffy’s crew.
