Sasuke is one of the surviving members of the strongest clan in Konoha, Uchiha. His character is often depicted as a cold and selfish person because of the trauma and terror he saw in his childhood. His clan, family, mother, father, and everyone was killed in front of his eyes by none other than his brother. He wanted to become the strongest shinobi just like Itachi but when he got to know that his brother was the reason that he lost everything, he swore to kill his brother. His need for power and strength to kill his brother made him make decisions that he didn’t want to.
Leaving Konoha
❝ If That's How It Is, I'll Just Have To Sever That Bond.❞
Sasuke left the village to attain power to win a fight against his older brother Itachi Uchiha by siding with Orochimaru and Sound Village shinobis. Sasuke leaving the village may look like his determination to gain more power but the sole reason is he is just jealous of Naruto.
Even though there are strong shinobis in the Konoha like Might Guy and Kakashi he found themself weaker than a Uchiha and joined with the person that killed their Hokage. When Naruto and his comrades went on a Sasuke recovery mission and almost died at the hands of the sound village shinobi, Sasuke didn’t even care about them. For a person who got the “Sharingan” who can see through anything his wrath blinded his eyes.
Fought against Rocklee

In the chunin exam arc, Rocklee picked a fight with Sasuke to prove his love for Sakura as for Sasuke he agreed to fight with Rock Lee, with arrogance and full of pride in himself for being a Uchiha. His pride was soon shattered by his underestimation of Rocklee’s skills and his Intelligence in Taijutsu, if it was not for Might guy’s interference Sasuke might find himself in a no-win situation.
Declaring his vengeance against Konoha to the former Hokage
❝ I Hate A Lot Of Things, And I Don't Particularly Like Anything.❞
During the war arc, Sasuke holds a grudge against the village because it killed his brother and his clan. But he also had some questions about the village, so when the 4 former Hokage were reincarnated and heard Sasuke declaring his vengeance against Konoha it made Tobirama furious.
If the four Hokage tried to kill Sasuke there is a chance that one of them would have succeeded because Orochimaru couldn’t control Hashirama at that time and Hashirama chose not to fight Sasuke because he believed that Sasuke’s nature was because of the failure in protecting the peace in Konoho by some leaders. Also, Hashirama sensed a bit of Madara in his older days inside Sasuke.
Tried to capture Killer bee

Killer Bee is the only Jinchuruki at that time who can achieve full command over his tailed beast. When Sasuke joined Akatsuki his first mission was to capture Killer Bee. Even though Sasuke is a skilled fighter and a person who possesses eternal mangekyo sharingan he still very much struggled to capture Killer Bee, Killer bee was able to counterattack the Genjutsu with his eight-tail beast and Sasuke was able to capture Killer Bee by using Amaterasu. Later then it was revealed that the eight-tail Jinchuriki was a tentacle in disguise.
Picking up a fight with Itachi

Itachi and Kisame were assigned to capture the nine-tail Jinchuriki. At that time Naruto was sent to find Lady Tsunade along with Master Jiraya to fill up the position of Hokage. When Sasuke found out about Itachi’s plan he tried to fight him with Chidori, but the fight didn’t last long. That made Sasuke realize that he was not powerful enough to even resist Itachi for a few minutes.
Sasuke Joining Akatsuki
❝ I understand now. Even if I must take the devil's fruit, I must gain power. I am an avenger.❞
After the death of Itachi Uchiha, Sasuke learned the actual truth behind his brother’s action and his clan’s assassination which made him furious, and swore to destroy Konoha. He also became a member of the Akatsuki to gain enough manpower to destroy Konoha.
But he separated from Akatsuki very quickly after his first mission to capture the eight-tailed Beast, then with his crew, he created his group which is Akatsuki alike named Hebi with Sasuke Uchiha as the leader, Karin Uzumaki, Suigetsu Hozuki, and Jugo as his followers. This often raises the question of why he even joined Akatsuki in the first place.
Underestimating five Kage

During the five kage summit arc, Sasuke tried to kill Danzo by entering into the kage summit. Each kage present in the summit found this as a perfect opportunity to kill Sasuke who was the notorious criminal at that time. Sasuke tried his best to fight the Raikage in a one-on-one fight but when he tried to reach and kill danzo other Kage stopped him. He barely escaped the Kage summit with the help of White Zetsu getting severely injured
Tried to become Hokage
❝ Because That Which Is Destroyed Can Always Be Fixed And Rebuilt.❞
Sasuke a criminal at the time of war arc, shows up to the war to fight against Obito and Madara and says that he will become Hokage leaving every shinobi in the war with a pure shock. Sasuke doesn’t have the desire to become a hokage which was shown throughout the whole series. He even tried to take control of the tailed beast and swore to kill all the kage along with Naruto to become a Hokage. But his plans failed eventually making him realize the mistakes that he had made in his journey.
Took Itachi’s eyes
❝ Tears and rain, fall down on my face, my body is unable to stay yet my heart is unwilling to leave.❞
After the death of Itachi Uchiha, Tobi asked Sasuke to use Itachi’s eyes to gain eternal Mangekyo sharingan but at that time Sasuke refused it, by saying that he would never see this world in the eyes of Itachi. Later in the five kage summit arc after Sasuke killed Danzo his own eyes began to weaken, since over usage of the Mangakyo sharingan can lead to permanent blindness. Then Sasuke requested Tobi to give him his brother’s eyes to improve his power and gain eternal Sharingan power.
