- Official news is expected to arrive on Jump Festa 2025 stage
New movies of Dragon Ball and One Piece are in store for anime fans in 2025. They will bring along fresh new adventures, exciting animation, and nostalgic storytelling. A computer-animated version of the film Dragon Ball will hit theaters on December 14, 2025. The director will be Aaron Horvath and Michael Jelenic. A martial arts legend, young Goku turns from a mountain boy to an adult, taking on Bulma, the role played by Margot Robbie.
Matthew Broderick has been signed for the adult character of Goku, whereas Iain Armitage will play the young Goku. Mikros Image will create the animation while DNEG will do the additional visual effects. Imagi Studios, Sony Pictures Animation, and Arad Productions are producing it. It’s an effort to revitalize the series after the dismal 2009 Dragonball Evolution.
Meanwhile, Toei Animation is dropping hints for a new One Piece film during the 2025 fiscal year. There is little known about it so far, but a proper announcement can be expected during Jump Festa 2025. It’s in line with the pattern of the franchise; movies are released every three years, and One Piece Film: Red in 2022 was a huge success, leaving everyone looking forward to what the next big-screen adventure has to offer.
People have been speculating about the storyline, but theories are wide-ranging, from a series of previous films to one that is new and original. Another series on the list is Netflix’s live-action One Piece which was renewed for its second season with production starting mid-2024 and will come out in 2025. Success with the live-action series might just raise the ante for the new film in the universe of One Piece, as fans follow Luffy and his Straw Hat Pirates on animated adventures as well as on their live-action escapades.
