“Sakamoto Days” is an action-comedy anime series, that revolves around the eponymous protagonist, Taro Sakamoto, a former legendary hitman who lives a normal life with his wife and daughter.
The first character described by the show’s author in the first episode is Taro Sakamoto, a skilled hitman who people fear. However, in a dramatic irony, Sakamoto is no longer the unforgiving killer he used to portray. He is now a family man, he is big now and he works at a convenience store. His rationale for becoming a normative man is to assuage his desire for a normal life after falling in love with a woman and then having a family.
Sakamoto’s past is revealed and a new young friend named Shin is sent to kill him by an unknown organization. Sakamoto, unlike now, sets Shin down effortlessly suggesting that no matter what has happened to him, he can still fight. But he does not want to kill him; rather he gives Shin a job at his convenience store, to which Shin readily agrees to work for him.

Shin — the young assassin who was shown in the first episode, and whom Sakamoto decided to spare, starts working at the convenience store in the second episode. At the beginning of the novel, Shin feels skeptical about this new life and he has problems with the simple occupations of the store worker. However, as the episode goes on we can realize how Sakamoto keeps on training Shin in his old style but still tries to protect his new peaceful life. The episode is developmental because one of the characters, Shin, starts to appreciate Sakamoto’s skills and becomes influenced by him. Although Shin does not immerse himself completely in this new lifestyle he begins to conform to his position at the store and slowly becomes adjusted to the peaceful life. At the same time, some vicarious signs shine that the organization by which Shin could once work may still have a desire for Sakamoto.
These two episodes set a platform for the series where action, comedy, and tenderness as the novel layers intermingle. This paralleling of Sakamoto’s comfortable family situation with his previously depicted violence is perfectly set to squarely lay down the nature of this show as time unfurls. The third episode of Sakamoto Days is to be released on January 19, 2025. They should provide more of the story and the growth of both Sakamoto and Shin, along with the rest of the characters as they proceed with the effort to live a normal life while Caset: Undertaking the Unpleasant Business of Violence.
