Rorona Zoro is one of the most loyal Characters in the Onepiece following the Captain to life or death. The crew of the Strawhat has always been faithful to Luffy but what makes Zoro special is that if Luffy asked him to kill his crew member zoro wouldn’t hesitate. Several times, Zoro proves his Loyalty to Luffy and how far he would go to help Luffy achieve his dream.
Zoro pledging Luffy as his Captain
Zoro joined Luffy’s crew after Luffy saved him from Morgan’s execution in the Romance Dawn Arc. Zoro initially refused to join Luffy’s crew but Luffy gave him the ultimatum and Zoro accepted that. He also made it clear that Luffy should never interfere with Zoro from achieving his dream. Since then Zoro swore his Loyalty to Luffy. Throughout his journey, Zoro observed Luffy while facing Buggy, Kuro, and Don Krieg and trusted him and his morals.
I’d rather be a pirate then die here!
Zoro's one last defeat against Mihawk
During the fight between Mihawk and Zoro, Zoro realizes the power difference between him and Mihawk. Throughout the fight and Zoro’s defeat, Luffy supports and cares for his well-being. Even Mihawk stated that he got great friends to pursue his dream. In that moment Zoro vowed to Luffy that he would never lose again until he had become the greatest swordsman.
“I’m going to be the world’s greatest swordsman! All I have left is my destiny! My name may be infamous…but it’s gonna shake the world!!!”
Approving his Captain's Order, even for the lose
During the Jaya arc, Luffy was mocked by the pirates for his dream but Luffy believed it was futile to fight someone who is no longer worth fighting so he refused to fight anyone. When Zoro tried to attack them for their behavior towards his captain, Luffy simply told Zoro to not fight. He didn’t ask a reason behind his captain’s decision and followed him. Zoro believes that following Luffy’s grand dream and Luffy will also lead him to his dream.
“There Is Someone I Must Meet Again. And Until That Day…Not Even Death Himself Can Take My Life Away.”
Being the Best Vice Captain for the Crew
Unlike Luffy, Zoro takes Luffy’s position as a captain very seriously. During the Water 7 arc, Usopp Leaves the Strawhat stating that he won’t be useful for Luffy. Later Usopp realizes his mistakes and tries to join the crew, Zoro stops Luffy from accepting Usopp back until he says sorry. He believed if the captain didn’t have enough respect among the crew the crew would fall apart quickly. At last, Usopp accepts his mistakes and apologizes for his actions, and Luffy accepts it.
“A crew with no respect and a captain that doesn’t demand it falls apart quickly”
Sacrifice for his Captain's life and dream
After Defeating Moria The Strawhats faced Kuma who is inevitably stronger than the crew. Kuma asked Zoro to take all the pain that Luffy is suffering to Leave the crew alone for now. To prevent the crew Zoro sacrificed himself and suffered too much. When Sanji tries to make the sacrifice Zoro stops him saying that it is his responsibility as a first mate to protect the crew. Even though Robin, Brook, and Sanji know about Zoro’s sacrifice they didn’t utter a single word to the captain this shows the bond and the depth of the relationship among the straw hats in One Piece.
“If I Can’t Even Protect My Captain’s Dream, Then Whatever Ambition I Have Is Nothing But Talk! Luffy Is The Man Who Will Become The Pirate King!”
Trained under his rival for Luffy
After Ace’s death, The News about the paramount battle spread throughout the world and the crew came to find out about Luffy’s situation. To prevent the situation from happening again the Strawhats decided to train hard. Zoro who just so happened to be in Mihawk’s Island begged Mihawk to train him to become even stronger. Mihawk found this amusing to see a man losing his pride to prevent his captain and crew and agreed to train him for 2 years during the time skip in One Piece.

Always a saviour for his Captain
During the fight against Kaido in Onigashima, when Luffy was stroked through Kaido’s Thunder Bagua, he became unconscious. Zoro brought out his Color of the Supreme King and his Ashura technique as his final move to stop Kaido and protect his captain’s life. Zoro never interfered in the battle between Luffy and Kaido but always acted as a shield to protect his Captain, as he could not until the Vice Captain of the crew was still alive. Zoro was almost dead after fighting Kaido one-on-one until Luffy woke up but still, he never gave up and defeated King, the right-hand man of Kaido.
“Hey Kaido! He’s our Captain! Why don’t you try to smash my head first”
